How can I do something new in your life
If you keep dwelling on your past?
You've told Me before that you're moving on,
But how long did that last?
Why are you still mourning
Over the one who broke your heart?
Why do you think about painful memories
That only tear you apart?
I hurt every time you hurt.
Don't you know, I have feelings too?
Can a Father smile when His child's depressed?
I care so deeply for you.
When you cry, I cry back,
"Don't let your past destroy today!"
Be strong. Shake off the dust.
Bury your ashes, and walk away.
I can't pour out My blessings
If your thoughts are not made new;
Can I give you fresh water
If it's an old cup I'm pouring into?
If only, you'd forgive yourself.
If only, you'd forgive Me;
If only, you'd forgive who hurt you,
You'd live again, and be set free.
Why don't you try again, My child?
Now, leave your past behind;
Move on, and don't look back.
A new life is what you'll find.
